Heartland Games

Heartland Winter Games are held in January every year in Kansas and Missouri. Special Olympics Oklahoma participates in Snow Shoeing, Alpine Skiing, Cross Country Skiing and Speed Skating.

In 2012, ten Special Olympics Oklahoma athletes competed. The Oklahoma Flatlanders made a great showing at the event winning 17 Gold, 11 Silver and 6 Bronze medals. 2012 was a tough year with very warm weather and snow conditions that were very tough. Special Olympics Oklahoma athletes made a fantastic showing proving that even Flatlanders can excel in Winter Sports.
