Capitol Hill Day
Gabby Goes to Washington!
Gabby participates in powerlifting, volleyball, basketball, track and field, soccer, golf, bowling and the arts. She has been a Special Olympics Oklahoma athlete for 8 years. Gabby became involved in Special Olympics because her mom wanted her and her twin brother to participate in someething that was healthy, competitive and safe where they could meet a lot of people from other areas and schools in Oklahoma.
"The highlight to my Special Olympics experience actually came last year when I was selected to participate on my school's girls relay team. That day I ran the fastest I had ever run and our team won first place," Gabby said.
Gabby has been a Global Messenger since July 2016 and although new to the program, she has had at least one speaking engagement each month since joining the program
"I have never had the opportunity to meet with any U.S. Senator, Congressman, Governor or any other government official," Gabby said. She will make a great representative on behalf of Special Olympics Oklahoma, and we are looking forward to hearing all of her stories at future speaking engagements.
