The Young Athletes "Stars of the Future" Program gives future Special Olympics athletes ages 3 through 7 the opportunity to experience the atmosphere of Special Olympics events. At Winter Games in January, the "Stars of the Future" athletes go through winter sports stations, receiving training in basketball, volleyball, and bowling events. At Summer Games in May, these youngsters go through about a dozen stations, receiving training in athletics (track & field) events. At the end of the day, the "Stars" take to the "Big Track" to show off what they have learned or to say "watch for us in the future!" After the "Stars of the Future" events, they receive achievement ribbons from Law Enforcement Torch Run personnel.
